Job Description
· The Virtualization & Cloud Team is focused on advancing and supporting cloud enablement as a key business driver at Bayer including development of staff, platforms, and processes.
· The team develops and manages platforms utilizing public cloud offerings from Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
· The team is responsible for managing and enhancing on-premises VMware virtual infrastructure platforms for North America.
· Virtualization/Cloud Team is seeking a Cloud System Engineer to assist with daily operations, continued advancement, and project management pertaining to our public cloud infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
· Innovate and advance Bayer IT and businesses into the emerging cloud computing era.
· Create cloud infrastructure designs and guide the development/implementation of cloud applications, systems, and processes.
· Participate in the installation/de-installation of virtual servers in external Cloud provider's infrastructure.
· Assist in providing reliable and efficient operation of the technical infrastructure necessary to support local, regional, and global businesses of the Bayer Concern.
· Participate in problem resolution activities in support of the technical infrastructure in cooperation with colleagues around the globe.
· Act as a member of the IT Platform and Infrastructure Virtualization/Cloud Technology team by sharing information with colleagues, contractors, managed services employees, and conducting training or mentoring as needed.
Job Requirement
· 1.5+ years of configuration and deployment experience on Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or equivalent public cloud provider platforms.
· Proficient in the following AWS technologies; EC2, EBS, ELB, auto scaling, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, IAM
· Knowledge of the following AWS technologies; Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, Glacier, EFS, Direct Connect, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation
· Scripting experience with languages such as BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python, PowerShell;
· Infrastructure automation experience using technologies such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible;
· Advanced network and security knowledge to comply and adhere to Bayer regulatory compliance regulations
· Preferred candidate has AWS certification(s)
Education Requirement(s):
· Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years OR Master's Degree with 6+ years OR Doctorate with 1-3 years OR 8-11 years applicable business experience.
